Today – I want you to know I’m here FOR you!

Kelong Walk : HDRI

I want you to know that no matter what is going on in your life right this very minute that it CAN be overcome; that we don’t have to live lives of despair and loneliness.  We are here for each other – we’re not left alone in the middle of a desert without water to drink.

We are all a part of what we call humanity and when we use the word “humane” it should mean more than just humanitarian, well, who even knows what that is?

But to be humane means to be:

There is so much more to what we share with people on the surface of our lives and to think that by standing up for what we believe and being willing & able to withstand persecution for that belief…That is to live by faith.  Pick just one word from this list and watch it grow! – Here is the list of words that comes from “compassionate”.

  • Sympathetic
  • Concerned
  • Kindhearted
  • Empathetic
  • Considerate

And the same is to be said for every word!  Even one of the smallest words in the English language; the word “The” – I never realized this before my Sunday School teacher brought it up a couple of weeks ago –

The:

  • Indicating one as distinct from another
  • Indicating shared experience
  • Indicating period of time

So, in this period of time we call Today, regardless of when that day is that you read this letter, there is someone here for you. You are NOT alone.  This is a favorite song of mine from years ago…but it always comes to remembrance when I’m feeling alone.  It’s a song that most have heard of, but I love it more today then yesterday.

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

  • Refrain:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
    Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Re-Purposing of Old Items

I am amazed every time I see the incredible ingenuity used by every day folk in taking things we would normally trash, adding to the miles of trash in the garbage heaps and finding brand new uses for them.

In the Real Simple article on 50 All-Time Uses of Old Things, they have the neatest tips – from using old picture frames with a piece of colored paper as a vanity tray to using old ketchup bottles to pour out perfect portions of pancake batter. Who would have thought of that? But…someone did and the neatest thing is – they didn’t keep it to themselves, but instead, chose to share it with us.

What good does it do to have wonderfully creative ideas if we never share them with each other? I loved my mom and still think about her several times a day even though she is gone from me; but she was a busy working mom who many times worked two jobs to keep food on the table and bills paid. Because of that, many times her approach to things at home was that she could do something faster herself then to take the time to teach me “how to do something”.  And as a working mom myself, I understand that train of thought.

But today, as we turn another corner in our lives, it is more important than ever to share with each other! To teach each other! To care what another person is doing! & to show them (us/me) a better way of handling the resources we have been given on this planet.  We have limited sources of energy, space, land, water and with the number of us living longer and richer lives, we must be caretakers of not only our own lives, but also those around us – young & old.  We are critical of so many things in the world, and yet, we are all here together.  Why not learn from each other? Teach each other?

How about this tip – use Lifesaver candies as birthday cake & cupcake candle holders? – Isn’t that the neatest idea? And very sweet too! (pun intended)  Or, one that we use in our home, use empty facial tissue boxes to hold the plastic bags we get from the supermarket when we forget our “green alternative” reusable bags.

The ideas go on and on and some are so simple you think, “Oh my gosh, why didn’t I think of that”? – well that is why we have each other and why magazines like Real Simple are published – to give us the “Ah-Ha” moments we all love and get such a kick out of.

If, when you read the Real Simple article, 50 All-Time Uses of Old Things, you have other ideas, PLEASE share them with us – we would love to pass them on to our readers…

In a posting today by Manta for Small Business Marketing from an article by ezinearticles.com – Expert – Jessica_M_Swanson, the advice was too good not to choose this format to pass it on, so here is the article in its entirety!

Unfortunately, many small business owners believe in the motto, “it takes money to make money” in the world of small business. The good news is that nothing could be further from the truth.

There are twenty-one shoestring marketing secrets that will give you the right frame of mind so that you can begin the process of building a thriving small business without spending a dime on marketing.

What every small business needs to know is that Shoestring Marketing is:

1. Low-cost. In today’s internet and social media age, there are now more low-cost marketing options than ever before. Not only is it possible, but absolutely doable to substantially grow your small business on a shoestring budget.

2. Commitment. If your marketing is going to eventually take hold, then you need to make a strong commitment to see it through until it sticks. Don’t give up in the early stages.

3. Patience. The fruits of your marketing labors don’t happen overnight. You need to plant your marketing seeds and tend to them regularly before your marketing garden blooms.

4. Branding. Your clients and customers need to have a clear picture in their minds about who you are and how your product or service can solve their most pressing problems

5. Consistency. Marketing is much like breathing. It’s the life of your small business and should be a regular part of your daily business activities.

6. Domination. If you want to explode your small business profits, then you must dominate a small part of your market. You need to become the “go-to” person in your particular niche.

7. Customer-focused. Your primary job is to clearly identify the problems that your prospects face and offer them the obvious solutions.

8. Identify your target market. It’s crucial that you know exactly who needs your product or service. Mass marketing doesn’t work in today’s business environment. Not only does it force you to water down your marketing message to please the masses, but it’s much too expensive for the shoestring marketer.

9. Elicits confidence and trust. Create experiences and situations that boost the level of confidence from your prospects. At the end of the day, people buy from those whom they like and trust.

10. Massive visibility. Since your prospects are exposed to over 4,000 ads every single day, you need to make sure that your small business is utilizing as many marketing platforms as possible. Your prospects should come across you in as many places as possible.

11. Repetition. Research suggests that prospects need to encounter your small business between seven and twelve times before they are ready to purchase. So, put yourself in front of your target market over and over again.

12. Ease of use. If your sales process, marketing materials or any other part of your business is too complicated, your customers will become confused. Confused customers simply don’t buy.

13. The WOW Factor. What are you doing to get noticed? How are you different than your competition? The fastest way to small business failure is to blend in with the crowd.

14. Quality. If your product and/or services aren’t top quality, then you won’t get repeat business. Your long-term success depends on satisfied customers who spread the word about your business and buy from you repeatedly.

15. Education. Position yourself as an expert and educate your prospects about why your small business can offer them the remedy to their most pressing pain points.

16. Relationships. Create real relationships with your prospects and customers. Answer their questions, solve their problems and help them if they’re stuck. Your prospects want to know that there’s a real person in front of your small business.

17. Increasing the lifetime value of customers. Over 20% of your existing customers will buy from you again (since they already know and trust you), so create additional ways for them to make purchases.

18. Automation. We’re living in a fast-tracked society that doesn’t work using old-fashioned marketing methods. So, embrace automation tools such as landing pages, email autoresponders, shopping carts, customer management software, etc.

19. Tracking your results. It’s essential to your overall survival that you have a clear understanding what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to your marketing. Use link tracking software to track your ROI (even if your only investment is your time).

20. Flexibility. Things change quickly and you must be willing to adapt. When the next “great” marketing platform emerges, be willing to jump on board and embrace it with excitement. If you are a flexible marketer, you’re always miles ahead of your competition.

21. Everything that you do. Marketing isn’t just about your advertising campaigns. Every single interaction that you have with your prospects promotes your small business. So, be careful how you answer the phone, respond to your emails and treat your customers because all of it makes an instant and lasting impression on them.

So, there you have it, twenty-one Shoestring Marketing strategies that will literally transform your small business from “just getting by” to “flourishing.” And, the best part of all is that you can do it all on a shoestring marketing budget.

The Killer Is Hiding In Your Laundry Room…

Is it a mass murderer with a knife?  A crazed person from your neighborhood store with a gun?  A maniac with a chemical poison to throw in your face?

What if I told you it is all 3 and you paid him to be there?  What do you think?  Impossible, you say?

We have demanded that the big chemical companies come up with better, harsher, more chemical-laden products to work faster, and more efficiently and always for less money…that last part “less money” is what gets you every time.  You can go to any dollar store in the USA and find products on the shelves that promise to do the same thing as their higher-priced counterparts in the supermarkets; and dollar for dollar – they probably do.

But, what you’re bringing in to your home, whether it’s from the $1.00 store or from the supermarket, or even from the “healthy” stores are the poisons and the carcinogens and the knife, the gun, the chemical poison and yes, you are the one paying for the murderer to hide right in your own laundry room.

We as consumers are not as educated as we should be.  We want the better, bigger,  more powerful and what we end up bringing in to our homes around our children, pets and yes, ultimately the environment is the very poison that will destroy our health, our homes, our lives and our planet if we don’t make a change.  We can’t continue to demand that companies make more and more toxic products for cleaning and laundry and pest controls – all to make us more “productive”.  We can NOT continue to be that ignorant.

We must get the word out that there are alternatives. – Let me show you – Take a simple test on http://distinctinspirations.toxinchecklist.com for yourself – see what poison, loaded gun, and knife-wielding killer is hiding in your home!

It’s A New Day, It’s The Same Old World…Or Is It?

Cover of "Pay it Forward"

Cover of Pay it Forward

Does everything automatically change with the clock at midnight? – the clock that on that magic hour on that magic day begins a brand new year?  Well this year I say YES – I say Yes to the possibilities – Yes to the changes I can make in people’s lives – Yes to speaking the truth – Yes to bringing happiness & joy & love to people – Yes to making a difference!

This is the year I will – do and be the things I dreamed of in 2010…I want to show people everywhere that the things they want to do in 2011 are possible too  –  I know this all looks so much like pooh-pooh or fluff…but don’t YOU want to make a difference this year?

We have possibilities everywhere in front of us – we just have to reach out to that star and see that it isn’t a falling star – it’s a sun with an infinite source of light and love and hope – – I know that with just one phone call, we can reach out to someone who needs that helping hand today.  When they can’t see the light for the darkness – We must be that candle – We must be that anchor they can hold on to in their storm!

Do you see it? – Do you have vision? – What do YOU want to do this year??? –  TOGETHER we can do ANYTHING…Do you believe?  Do you feel  it?  It isn’t about ME – It’s about WE! – There are ways to bring small changes in to our lives, our homes, our bodies that can bring about big changes.  The toxins in our minds are every bit as prevalent as the toxins in our homes. Bringing a way for people to provide for their families through the spirit of the entrepreneur – a way to make a change in that household finance plan while making a difference in other’s lives too!

It’s a brand new day and a brand new year.  How can I help you be what you want to be? – Am I rambling – probably – that’s the way my mind usually runs – from spot to spot and back again…cat’s at the window – gotta let him in…dog’s asleep on my bed…hubby’s at the Fiesta Bowl game with the guys…and I’m here – writing this blog – why?  Because I have something to say in 2011 – I have something to write in 2011…This is my turn to Pay It Forward!!!  My turn to help someone else!!!

Hear me – See me – Touch me – Feel me – Ooh – I’m quoting from “Tommy”…I guess things do come back around…She says with a smile on her lips and a twinkle in her eye…As my hubby told me today, we may not always be liked, but do you know you’re loved?
